When Baker Tilly partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County to secure critical New Markets Tax Credits for the new McKenzie Regional Workforce Center, they needed a visual narrative that matched the scale of their impact. Trie House Productions was hired to record, produce, and edit a feature case study documenting how complex real estate and construction financing directly translates into life-changing community opportunities. Over the course of a full year, Trie House was on-site at key structural milestones to capture the transformation of the Madison, WI facility from raw construction to completion. Once the doors opened, our team returned to capture dynamic, day-in-the-life footage of youth learning hands-on skilled trades, paired with insightful interviews from leadership across all organizations. The resulting highlight film showcases how strategic financial guidance turned a ambitious vision into a state-of-the-art reality for Dane County youth.

Challenges
  • Boys & Girls Club of Dane County: Securing tens of millions of dollars in capital to fund a specialized trades-focused facility required navigating complex real estate development hurdles while maintaining focus on their core mission: serving local youth.
  • Baker Tilly: Translating intricate tax credit structuring (NMTC) and complex advisory work into a tangible, human-centered story that non-financial audiences could easily understand and connect with.
  • Trie House Productions: Coordinating a year-long production timeline around erratic construction schedules, weather shifts, and high-security build sites—followed by capturing high-energy, authentic moments in an operational center without disrupting active youth trade programs.
  • Solutions
  • Boys & Girls Club of Dane County: Championed community-first vision by mobilizing local trade partnerships, donors, and leadership to anchor the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center as a beacon for workforce equity.
  • Baker Tilly: Provided expert tax advisory and NMTC structuring that unlocked essential financing, proving how corporate financial strategy can directly catalyze public community development.
  • Trie House Productions: Executed a flexible, milestone-based filming schedule to reliably capture major structural breakthroughs. We then paired crisp, technical interviews with high-energy b-roll of students actively working in the trades, creating a balanced narrative of technical achievement and human impact.
  • Results.
  • Visual Case Study: Delivered a high-impact narrative video that Baker Tilly and the Boys & Girls Club use for stakeholder reporting, donor recruitment, and corporate impact marketing.
  • Community Awareness: Elevated regional visibility for the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center, driving interest and enrollment among Madison-area youth in skilled trades programs.
  • Proven Model of Partnership: Successfully demonstrated how corporate advisory (Baker Tilly), community leadership (Boys & Girls Club), and visual storytelling (Trie House Productions) can unite to showcase real-world social return on investment.
